This exhibition explores culinary traditions from the emergence of Islam to today, highlighting key historical developments, contemporary challenges and the impact of trade on food. It also examines how feasting and dining etiquette shaped courtly culture.

Organised in five sections, A Seat at the Table: Food & Feasting in the Islamic World includes more than 100 objects from the collection of the Museum of Islamic Art, plus loans from several Qatar Museums institutions as well as the Qatar National Library. Each section will include a video of a contemporary chef preparing a dish that reflects his or her culinary traditions.

This exhibition is organised by the Museum of Islamic Art, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

The exhibition also includes a collaboration between MIA and the Qatar Photography Center along with several local artists
