The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) invites you to join an exceptional cultural journey, offering a unique perspective on China, a country with a rich history spanning thousands of years, and a remarkable artistic and cultural heritage that continues to inspire the world today.

Share with a friend

Designed for Qatari artists and designers, participants in this edition of Ektashif will be selected based on the quality of their portfolios and a personal interview, with the goal of joining the MIA team on a cultural journey to the People’s Republic of China in November 2026. The selected artists will have the opportunity to discover the beauty, richness, and enduring legacy of Chinese civilisation.

The programme combines learning with hands-on experience. Through a series of workshops, participants will explore the art of Chinese ceramics, learn the traditional craft of papermaking, and prepare the inks used in Chinese calligraphy and painting. These immersive experiences provide insight into the traditional crafts that have shaped Chinese cultural identity for centuries.

The journey also includes visits to some of China’s leading museums and cultural institutions, where participants will encounter significant works of art and historical collections that trace the development of Chinese civilisation. These visits will also highlight the rich history of artistic and cultural exchange between China and the Islamic world.

This initiative is part of the Museum of Islamic Art’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful cultural and educational experiences that enrich knowledge and foster a deeper appreciation of art, heritage, and the shared legacy of human civilisation.
