Abdulhadi Al-Marri, photographer
Abdulhadi Al-Marri is a talented photographer who has won international accolades for his craft. He shares his passion with other photography enthusiasts by hosting frequent workshops in Qatar. He thinks of photography as a legitimate successor to painting, as photographers use light to draw instead of paint. Abdulhadi firmly believes in the power of images to connect people across cultures and sees himself as an ambassador who represents his country.
Aljazi Almaadeed, painter and ceramics artist
Aljazi Almaadeed is a student at Qatar University majoring in fine arts. An artist in the field of painting and ceramics (sculpture), she has participated in several exhibitions in Qatar and internationally in Kuwait, Sharjah and Russia. She is also the founder of the Jazz Dolls Project, for which she designs phone cases. As the co-founder of the Clay Studio project, specialising in the production of decorative ceramic pieces, she also runs training workshops for adults and children.
Dana Al Mulla, fashion designer
Dana Al Mulla is a Qatari designer who launched the “House of MOTIF” brand in 2015. Her grandmother served as both a muse and a mentor, teaching Dana how to sew from a young age and sharing traditional Qatari patterns and designs that became the foundation for Dana’s creations. Dana’s resulting journey into fashion seamlessly blended her Qatari heritage with a contemporary touch. House of MOTIF’s initial line, MOTIF Henna Gowns, combined cultural artistry with modern motifs, reflecting a harmonious balance between heritage and innovative design. Dana’s meticulous attention to detail, commitment to perfect finishings and passion for experimenting with diverse textures, colours and patterns have endeared her to clients seeking innovative designs.
Fatima Al-Sharshani, calligrapher
Fatima Al-Sharshani has been honing her artistic penmanship since 2011. Originally a Chemistry and Food Science graduate from Qatar University, Fatima first discovered her passion for the arts in 2011. With calligraphy, Fatima has given her written words more power. She enjoys the calmness and perseverance that comes from continuously improving her skills, and the meditative effect it has on her. While perfecting her skills in Diwani, Moroccan Calligraphy, Thuluth, and Free Line, she has organised multiple calligraphy workshops to share her passion with her community. She previously took part in the JEDARIART program, designed to add vibrancy and meaning to city walls, in the U.S. as part of the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture.
Hamad Al Mohammed, jewellery designer
Hamad Al Mohammed created H Jewellery in 2012 after years of designing jewellery pieces for his family as a hobby. H Jewellery features 18- and 21-carat fine gold in its distinctive pieces with designs that are inspired by both culture and contemporary architecture, incorporating symbols and Islamic patterns. The brand has been featured at a wide range of local, regional and international exhibitions, such as the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, The Hong Kong Jewellery Show 2019 and SEEGHA 2022. Hamad has also collaborated with several local artists for special collections, including Ali Hassan, Reem Al-Bahrani, Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed Al Thani, Shuaa Ali and Bashayer Al-Badr.
Maryam Al-Mutaweh, business owner and fashion designer
Maryam Al-Mutaweh has been passionate about fashion and design from an early age, growing up in a family interested in art, drawing and poetry, and having watched her mom sew and embroider. She is passionate about art and design in all its forms, starting her journey in fashion design more than 20 years ago. She is known for being the first Qatari fashion designer, recognised for her practical abaya staples and evening abayas in particular. Maryam recently took part in the “Isfahan Abayas & Caftans Fashion Show” at the Museum of Islamic Art, a fashion show featuring 15 talented designers who explored creative designs inspired by MIA's Fashioning an Empire: Textiles from Safavid Iran exhibition.
