As one of the world's four ancient civilisations, China boasts a rich history of more than 5,000 years that embraces a grand and profound culture. The exhibition shows the dawn of Chinese civilisation, the establishment of early national policies that occurred in this land, the formation of manners and artistic tastes and the communication and relationships with other cultures.

The exhibition is divided into three parts: The Birth of Civilisation, Ceremonies and Kingdoms; Splendid Unification, Prosperity and the Silk Road; and Porcelain, Imperial China and the Royal Arts. The works on display were carefully selected from five famous Chinese museum collections covering pottery, bronze, jade, porcelain, gold, silver, enamel and many other artworks.
