Kindergarten to Grade 3 (3-8 Years Old)
Young artists will be introduced to Islamic art and its artefacts through a tour in the galleries. They will learn about different objects through show-and-tell activities. First, they observe, outline and draw—using a colour scheme inspired by the objects—then they tell their story.
Primary to Secondary School
Students will be introduced to patterns and designs in Islamic art through a tour in the galleries. They will learn the basics of geometry, produce a geometric design by constructing, tracing and repeating a geometric shape and finally paint their pattern using a colour scheme inspired by the Museum of Islamic Art's collection. The complexity and focus of the workshop will be customised based on the age of the students.
Primary to Secondary School
Students will learn the basics of drawing and outlining from observation in MIA galleries. Each student will choose one to two objects to learn about and produce their artwork by drawing with a pencil and adding details using light and shadow techniques. The complexity and focus of the workshop will be customised based on the age of the students.
Primary to Secondary School
Arabic calligraphy is one of the most important Islamic arts. Students should gain theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience using traditional tools. Kufic, one of the easiest Arabic calligraphy scripts is suitable for school students. It was also the first script used in writing the Holy Qur’an.
Primary to Secondary School
This is an exclusive platform for talented students to hone their skills in Arabic calligraphy. The workshop focuses on intensive and customised training that allows students to have a deep understanding of the Kufic script and its applications in Islamic manuscripts. It is an ideal opportunity to create and learn in an inspiring environment geared towards artistic excellence.
Primary School
IRSM Competition is a wonderful annual opportunity for students to discover their artistic talents, as participants draw inspiration from the wonderful exhibits at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA). Students visit the selected exhibition and create artistic paintings that reflect their vision and experiences inspired by Islamic heritage. The winning works are selected to be displayed in a special exhibition in the museum’s lobby. This gives them the opportunity to highlight their creativity to the public.
