How to Write a Story and AI
Primary School (Grades 4 to 6)
Library School Activities
Our library school activities include a variety of engaging workshops, story time sessions and training in English and Arabic for students of all ages.
This workshop is intended to introduce students to reading and writing stories, to the students trying to create their own stories. Through a range of interactive activities that reflect critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity. There is also a brief demonstration of how AI can be used to generate stories and the pros and cons of this tool. At the end of the workshop, the students will have a solid foundation in story writing.
Astrolabes Workshop
Preparatory to Secondary School (Grades 7 to 12)
This workshop explores the history of the astrolabe and the remarkable contributions of Muslim scholars during the Islamic Golden Age. Students will discover the achievements of Maryam al-Asturlabi and examine the significance of Muslim scientific innovations during a period often referred to in Europe as the Dark Ages. As a hands-on activity, students will use geometric tools to design and construct their own astrolabe while gaining an understanding of its historical role as one of the most important scientific instruments of the medieval world.
Object Handling - Junior Curator
Primary to Preparatory School (Grades 5 to 9)
Students will engage in hands-on object handling using MIA replicas and create their own label and mini display to share with the group. They will also learn how to research museum objects using research guides and library resources and gain a foundational understanding of what it means to work as a curator in a museum setting.
Story Time
Kindergarten
A storytime for students in Arabic and English. This session will also include an activity related to the story such as colouring or a library craft.
Research & Information Literacy & Fake News
Preparatory to Secondary School (Grades 7 to 12)
Providing school students with advanced information literacy training, this training will provide them with the ability to find, evaluate, organise, use, and communicate information in all its various formats. Students will also learn how to spot fake news.
Workshops for Students with Special Needs
All Grades
This customised workshop is tailored to meet the needs of each student, exploring themes in Islamic art such as animals, architecture, and travel.
Activities include:
- Colouring
- Building craft using Lego
- Molding craft using soft clays/Playdough
- Object handling: touching objects and documenting what they feel or observe about the objects
Umrah and Hajj Programme
Primary to Preparatory School (Grades 1 to 9)
Storytelling about the experience of experience of Umrah and Hajj for students in both Arabic and English. It includes a tour of a library display related to Hajj and Umrah rituals, exploring the story behind these sacred practices, and an informational tour about Al Ka’ba.
